About Me

Who Am I?

Today I am a mom of 3 boys who thinks about diet and nutrition every single day.  I believe that everything we consume matters immensely and will contribute to overall health. Why? Because I’m living proof.  And, in a moment I’ll share my story, but first let me tell you about my current lifestyle.

I am a wife, mother, home educator (that means I homeschool my kids), entrepreneur, and environmentalist.  I am focused on positive changes and spend every day working to have positive impact on myself, my family, the environment and other people.  I cook almost everything from scratch (my husband helps too) and I work on finding simple solutions to complex problems.

Who I am today does not look the same as who I was before kids. I know, everyone says that! But, here’s the part that‘s unique.  At the ripe old age of 21 I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called Ulcerative Colitis.  Doctors swore to me that diet was not related and I was just predisposed to this condition. They told me I’d be on meds the rest of my life and acted like it was no big deal as they pushed me out the door so they could see their next patient. I believed them because that’s what I was trained to do: trust the doctors because health is what they know. Unfortunately, it turns out “sick” is all they know and medication is their first answer for everything.

After some ups and downs with my health while trying to live a normal life, which for me involved working as a Case Manager in the foster system and completing a Master’s Degree then going into private practice as a Therapist, I became pregnant with my first child. I HATED the idea of being on meds while pregnant, but my doctor assured me it was fine. Well, after some unfortunate issues with my OB during that pregnancy and a traumatic birthing experience, my faith in doctors was tainted. I sought out a midwife and had a homebirth with my second child and found strength in myself that I didn’t know existed.

A few weeks after baby #2 was born I had the worst flare up of my Ulcerative Colitis that I had every experienced. I became so fearful of the next steps the doctors would take that I decided to take my health into my own hands and research until I could find answers.  Discipline, hard work, and TONS of emotional support got me into remission and completely med-free.  The short story is that I had to allow my gut to heal then replenish the ”good” bacteria.  So, here I am today, living on a strict diet to keep my autoimmune disease away, working hard on every aspect of my life, and trying to help others realize that they have the ability to create positive changes for themselves and the world around them.

I am ON A MISSION to help people avoid the kind of suffering I went through.  I work to motivate and inspire people to ASK QUESTIONS and EDUCATE themselves because we truly are the best experts on our own bodies and are capable of more than the society believes.  But, even more than that, I want to guide you towards products and lifestyle changes that will benefit you, your children, and the planet.  We are all connected and we impact each other. Let’s make the most of our time here! 🌏💗🌊
